Backstory For the launch of the Barbie movie in Canada, Warner Bros. asked us to bring Barbie Land in the real world. The event was supported by the presence of the two main male members of the cast who happened to be Canadian: Ryan Gosling and Simu Liu . The world-exclusive event took place in Toronto on June 28, 2023.
ChallengeImagine and create a full multi-level Barbie event in the heart of Toronto? Yes, please! Taking place at the exclusive club and restaurant Margo on King St., the event was to offer an immersive experience while facilitating the presence of high-end personalities and the related media needs.
Solution Custom art was developed for the building on three levels, and included and outside wrap of the façade for more effect and visibility. Under the creative direction of Madeline Neff, I developed the graphics that created the experience (70-foot step and repeat for the press line, stage backdrop, outside and inside window wraps amongst others) and managed the coverage of the event on-site, generating videos that were published along the night.
Outside, I created the custom art developed to fit the entire building’s front façade: windows, doorways, and crowd barricades. As for inside, my work included a 70-foot pink carpet to create the perfect backdrop for Canada’s invited press, vinyl wraps for windows and railings and a stage backdrop on the rooftop buzzing with pink Kenergy. Every detail worked together to create the perfect Dreamhouse experience.
The event resulted in almost 42m impressions from owned and earned content, the most-ever impressions for a social media, and more that 10 thousand comments.
